The experience

  • Day 1: Grounding and Self-Love

    We begin by arriving properly. Through breathwork, somatic movement and hot and cold practices, the body is invited to soften. The nervous system settles. You reconnect with yourself before anything else is asked of you.

  • Day 2: Connection

    A tech-free day. Space to be present without performance. Gentle group practices and a long, restorative sound bath help the heart open and the mind quieten. Real connection becomes possible when distraction is removed.

  • Day 3: Letting Go

    The final day is about release. Our signature floating water meditation guides you into deep ease, allowing old patterns and tensions to dissolve gently. You leave lighter, clearer, ready to carry something new home.

Nalanda Retreat, Mandrem Beach

Nalanda Retreat sits on the quiet northern shore of Goa, between the Mandrem River and the Indian Ocean. Private beach access. Open-air yoga shalas with views across palm trees to the sea. A beachfront restaurant serving fresh, locally sourced vegetarian food. A spa and steam room for rest between sessions. It was chosen because the environment does part of the work.

Gudiya Dagur Patel

Integrative Wellness Expert, Clinical Nutritionist and Transformational Coach

Gudiya has spent over 15 years working at the intersection of clinical nutrition, mindfulness, Ayurveda and transformational coaching. Inspired by her father, who pursued naturopathic medicine in 1985, her understanding of the body and mind is both deeply personal and rigorously grounded.

She is the founder of Just Be Retreats and Managing Director of PHI Clinic on Harley Street, one of the UK's most respected integrative health practices. Her work draws on clinical nutrition, breathwork, somatic movement, EFT tapping, Body Talk and emotional integration โ€” always tailored precisely to the person in front of her.

She has worked with high-achieving women navigating burnout, life transitions and chronic stress for over a decade. On this retreat, she leads every session.

Questions

  • No. The retreat is designed to meet you exactly where you are. Gudiya's approach is accessible and trauma-informed. Many guests come with no prior practice and find the sessions easy to settle into.

  • Nalanda offers beautifully designed rooms with private bathrooms, balconies, ceiling fans and air conditioning. Single rooms are available as well as twin rooms for those sharing. All rooms are within a two-minute walk of the beach.

  • Nalanda's beachfront restaurant is known for its fresh, locally sourced vegetarian menu. All meals included. Fish options and gluten-free and dairy-free dishes are available. Chai, lemon ginger tea and filtered water are available throughout the day.

  • No. The retreat price covers your accommodation, meals and all sessions. Flights to Goa are arranged independently. Goa International Airport is approximately 45 minutes from Mandrem. Nalanda can arrange airport transfers (ask us for details when you book).

  • A deposit secures your place. The balance is due one month before the retreat begins. Please contact us directly to discuss cancellation terms. We handle each situation with care.

  • Gudiya's work is gentle, trauma-informed and entirely non-pressured. Many guests come at precisely a difficult moment, and that is often when this kind of space is most valuable. If you have any specific concerns, please email us before booking and we will have a conversation.

  • Yes. Each day has unstructured time in the afternoon. You can use Nalanda's pool, walk the beach, book a spa treatment or simply rest. Independent day trips to markets, waterfalls and dolphin boat trips are also available to book.

  • We deliberately keep our retreats to less than 20 participants. The small group size is what makes the experience feel intimate, safe and genuinely supported.
